it's not logical to assume that all 6+ billion people on the planet share the same characters. that what makes zodiac signs unbelievable. but actually...a lot of us share some traits ..and sort of can be categorized accordingly..
it can be fun ..specially the compatibility which can be accurate sometimes :P I'm not a believer of it or anything. don't care about daily horoscope or Magi Fara7 (a Lebanese Guru of astrology)but it can give you sometimes a quick 1st impression or a hint about someone (that can be right or wrong as you will know the more you interact with that person)
back to the compatibility with friends or lovers ;)
there are 4 groups:
fire ,water, air & earth signs
each have certain characteristics and different from one another ,some can click very well and some just don't (chemistry..astrology..we'll never know :P)
for example, a Leo and a Gemini can be really good friends, but a Gemini with a Capricorn. Don't get along very well :)

I definitely agree that people who share close birth dates also share similar traits. I know a few of those. :) As for compatibility...hmmm...haven't tried that out yet. :D

I don't know much about horoscopes, but I'm sure there is some truth to them. People born in summer months akeed have different traits than people born in the middle of the winter..seems like it would be a natural thing :)

yup,actually (according to astrologists) it's more about the effect of our bodies and gravity of the moon and energy of the planets and stars and stuff :P
Taurus ppl like to live and enjoy the material things of life ;)
they tend to love arts..
quiet and a bit introverted ,very sweet and lovely
they are stubborn but not very .and very loyal as friends and lovers
they get along with Cancer and Pisces and Virgo the most
